What is Warble?
Warble is hosted realtime for Flarum — live discussions, typing indicators and presence, over WebSockets. We run the realtime server; you connect your forum with one key. No websocket server to run, no Pusher account, no message caps.
Do I need the Realtime extension?
Yes — Warble works alongside flarum/realtime, which does the live UI. Install both, and the free Warble extension points Realtime at our hosted service for you — no hosts, ports, or keys to configure. Realtime’s own feature settings (typing indicators, list updates, notification toasts) stay yours to tune.
How do I set it up?
Install the Warble extension, then paste one key from your dashboard into a single field. Warble configures everything automatically. That’s the whole setup — built for people with no server experience.
Are messages really unlimited?
Yes. Unlike Pusher, we don’t meter or cap messages. Your tier is a simple concurrent-connection limit; broadcasts within it are unlimited.
What if I outgrow it?
Above 2,000 concurrent connections you’re a large community — at that point self-hosting makes sense. No lock-in: flarum/realtime ships its own websocket daemon, so you simply disconnect Warble and run Realtime in its stock form on your own server.
Is there a free tier?
Yes — a free forever tier with up to 100 concurrent connections, unlimited messages, and your own dedicated realtime server. No credit card, one per account. If it sits with zero connections for 30 days we pause it to free capacity, but your keys are kept and one click resumes it. Paid plans then add connections and never pause.
How does the free tier compare to Pusher?
Pusher’s free Sandbox also gives 100 connections, but caps you at 200,000 messages a day on shared infrastructure — and one broadcast to 50 people counts as 51 messages, so a busy forum burns through it fast. Warble’s free tier is your own dedicated server with no message cap at all. And where Pusher’s next step is $49 a month, ours is $49 a year.
Is there a free trial on the paid plans?
Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Cancel any time from your dashboard — your realtime endpoint simply stops. Or start on the free tier and upgrade only when you outgrow 100 connections.
