Install: composer require linkrobins/referral, then enable it in the admin Extension Manager (or install it straight from Packagist there).

New

Personal invite codes are now created only when a member actually opens their referrals tab. Simply viewing profiles no longer writes anything to the database.
The admin campaign-codes list now shows the 200 newest entries and tells you when it's truncated, so a big code archive can't slow the admin page down.

Fixed

Validation messages for invite and campaign codes now display their text correctly (they could previously show up blank).
Upgrading a large forum is smoother: the referral-count backfill now runs in small batches instead of one big table update.
Overly long campaign labels or referral cookies are rejected early with a clean error.

Changed

Referral text follows the Font Sizer reading-size setting if you run that extension, and the profile styling moved into the stylesheet.

Behind the scenes, the whole referral signup flow is now covered by automated tests across PHP 8.3 to 8.5 and five databases.

Updates

Referral v1.4.0 is out: QR codes for invite links, plus referral notifications.

Members now have a QR Code button next to their invite code on the Referrals tab: it shows a scannable code for their referral link, with a download button for a print-ready PNG. Admin campaign codes each get their own QR button in the admin panel too, handy for posters, flyers, or letting someone scan your screen. QR codes are generated right in the browser, so invite links are never sent to any third-party service.

You also get notified when someone joins with your code: a forum alert and an email (each can be turned off in your notification preferences), shown under their own "Referrals" heading in the notification list.

Referral v1.4.1 is out: a maintenance release.

No new features this time, just reliability fixes under the hood, so nothing changes in how the extension looks or works day to day.

Fetching the list of people a member has referred (through the API) previously failed with an error; it now returns correctly, and is capped per request so it stays fast on very large or busy forums.
The referral notifications section is more resilient: if a future Flarum update changes how notifications are displayed, referral notifications fall back to the standard display instead of affecting your notifications list.
Invite-code generation gained a safeguard so it can't get stuck on very large or busy forums.
Some unused code was removed.

Referral v1.4.2 is out: a small housekeeping release.

No new features and no changes to how the extension looks or works — this one reorganizes the admin settings page internals so the extension stays easy to maintain and build on. It also closes out the last item from the public code review of v1.4.0; everything else from that review shipped in v1.4.1.
