Monitoring has been running here for months and has never had a post of its own. Fixing that.
What it does. It checks any site, API or endpoint every minute — HTTP, keyword, TCP or heartbeat — and watches the SSL certificate and the domain expiry alongside it. When a check fails you get an email, and another when it recovers. Every monitor can carry a webhook as well, so Slack, Discord, n8n or anything that accepts a POST hears about it too.
Status pages. You can publish one on your own domain: live component status, uptime history, incident timelines, and email subscriptions for your own users. There is an embeddable badge too, and it stays public even when the status page itself is password protected.
If what you are watching is a Flarum forum, it checks more than whether the page answered. Choose the Flarum monitor type and it reads what the forum admits about itself:
- Whether files that must never be public are.
config.php carries your database password and composer.json lists every extension you run; six paths are checked, and a hit means the web root is pointing at the install directory instead of public/.
- Whether debug mode is on, which Flarum reports in its own public API. Left on, any visitor who can cause an error sees stack traces, file paths and configuration.
- Whether the configured base URL matches the address people actually use — when it does not, links, cookies and canonical tags break in ways that are hard to spot from outside.
- Whether HSTS has a real max-age, whether
X-Content-Type-Options is set, and whether framing is restricted so the forum cannot be loaded inside someone else's page.
It also records the forum's own numbers once a day — discussions, tags, last activity, and whether sign-ups are open — so you can see a forum going quiet before anyone mentions it.
What it costs. Nothing. There is no paid tier above it, no credit card, and no trial timer. Every feature is on every account, including the status pages and the webhooks.
Why free. Because I need it myself for the forums I run, and the marginal cost of watching yours as well is small. It also keeps me honest: the same checks run against linkrobins.com, and its status page is public.
Start at Uptime Monitoring — add a URL and checking begins immediately. Nothing to install.
